Running athlon mp's w/1 processor only?

is it possible to buy the athlon 1800+ mp's and run 1 processor on 1 board? because i am thinking, since my aunt needs me to build her a comp and i need a new one also, wouldn't it be cheaper to buy the 2 and split it up since the xp 1800 is about 210 or so and the mp is about 260...it would be cheaper!! :D

Welcome to the forum.

I think your thinking that for the 260 you get two processors that is not the case you only get one. In order to get two you need to spend $520 for two mp's.

But yes you can run an mp on a single mobo board.
