Yes that chip has the morgan core so it will be able to run sse instructions it's faster already and should overclock nicely.
Have fun.
I take it all 1.0gig Durons have the Morgan core.Is this a better chip than the 1.0gig T-Bird?Is the only difference the SSE and voltage default?

Yes all 1 gig durons have the morgan core. The tbirds have a bigger L1 cache. I've seen it debated in a few different places, as to which is better. To me it seems that if the apps. your using utilize sse instructions you will be better off with the morgan if not then the tbird.
I thought there was a "Spitfire" 1.0 GHz as well as the 1.0 Morgan... so every 1.0 Duron is a Morgan?? For sure?
Perhaps I heard/read wrong...but I thought there was such an animal...
thanks again for yor time !!!! now to swap cpu's and hopefully this one works :)
i just took a closer look it's a t- bird 1 gig @ 266. will this work on my mobo ????????

sacoon no problem it's what we like to do.
Mr. B I have read that all 1.0's have the Morgan core and believe that Wild_Andy_C told me the same which I pretty much took as gospel. But give me some time and I will try and find a link.

Here is a quote from the review of the 1 gig duron done by amdmb.com.
Referencing the picture above, you see that there is a physical, external difference in the size and shape of the core. The core has grown to a 106^2 mm size and to a 25.18 million transistor count. The Morgan core, which is what will be used in all Duron processors from 1.0 GHz and on, offers the same advantages to the Duron as the Palomino core is offering the Athlon processor.
and a link (http://www.amdmb.com/article-display.php?ArticleID=111) to the whole review.

It should your mobo will set the fsb at 100 so you will have to go into your bios and set your multiploer at 10. If your mobo doesn't offer multiplier changes then you might be out of luck. I have done no research on this board though so I don't know what it has to offer.
No sweat...it's not like I'm running out to buy one soon...lol. Just thought I'd heard that there was a 1 gig SF and Morgan...
If this is the case...I'll be kickin' myself in the butt...I passed up a fairly cheap 1.0 Duron on e-BAY, as I wasn't sure if it was a Morgan core or not... I'd rather have a Morgan than a SF, if I get a Duron (rather have another XP, really...lol).
**edit...*sigh* guess so, eh? Dayum...I knew I shoulda bid on that auction...lol**
