Copying partitions

I picked up a new HDD today, 250gb PATA Maxtor. I've decided to use this as my system drive because it is likely a little faster than my 200gb Hitachi 7k250. I just reinstalled windows and all my drivers and programs this morning, so I would like to avoid doing that again. Is there any reason I couldn't or shouldn't just copy the boot partition from the 200 to the 250? I've copied many partitions before, but never copied a system partition to another drive and tried to use it, so thats why I'm asking. Both are the same interface, so I wouldn't run into any problems there.

Any suggestions or insight would be great.

I've done it many times. Normally, I use GHOST or Drive Image (both Symantec products now but I use the older 2002 Drive Image from Powerquest). It works fine.

I got Trueimage 8. Works well and has a lot of options.
