:welcome: to the forums.

The BenQ, hands down. Samsung writers are not as good as the name might suggest.

of course it does; i've got 1650 model, it writes dual layer no problem. 1655 is an upgrade to it that addresses some power issues and a few other minor things; and it does write dual layer.

I think all drives being sold these days are dual layer capable. It's pretty much standard.

Is there any difference in performance between the BenQ DW 1650 and the 1655?

The latter has LightScribe tech (Which I'm really interested in), thus want to opt for that, but any performance issues?
