Is there anyway to test a modem for faults besides w2k diagnostics. The w2k diagnostic tests modem correctly but connection drops affter 10+ seconds? any suggestions please?

u can always have ur cable company ping the modem and run a diagnostics on it :D

This is going to be the most helpful suggestion your going to get that I know of. If it's dropping the connection, you've got signal strength problems or line problems, most likely. :)

Sounds like sync problem. Typically that's due to line noise -- you're ISP can reprovision you to a lower bit rate (like a safe mode) to see if your link stabilizes.
