Since the price are the about same on 6600gt and 7600gs. I would go for 7600gs. Plus the 7600gs can be overclock to 7600gt speed, there is a thread about this in the 3dmark team section. For cpu get that 3200+ 939, if possible go for am2 socket STUFF. Also there is a price cut on cpu around July 24th, 2006 for amd.

Well, if you wanted top of the line there is the 7900 series, still buggy but seems lik eyou dont have that kind of money to throw around. Between those two I'd lean towards the 7600GS.

And also, try to go with the company named eVGA, they have great customer service and they have no problems helping you with defective cards. They are one of the best companies there are in the video card industry.

7600gs is a pretty good card, only problem is it comes with only DDR-2 memory unlike its 7600gt counterpart. However, it is still a very good card.

I also agree with going with AM2 and get a A64 3000+. MAke sure you get DDR 667 with semprons or reg. athalons, cuase they don't come with a ddr 800 mem controller. I've heard that the 3000+ on the AM2 oc really well as well w/ a good mobo.

7600GS is better than the 6600GT. However, the 7600GT will be much better, and isn't too much more expensive.

Get the 7600. Aparently it doesn't catch on fire as much as I've seen the 6600s do (actualyl never heard of a 7600 bursting into flames, but the 6600gt seems to have a history. I know about 6 people that had theirs burst into flames).

I'd think if you wait about a month-ish when the Conroe is released, AMD will be forced to lower prices (if they still want to compete the rest of the year!) :)
