the onboard ethernet on my mom's iMac got fried and she needs a replacement. this is one of the old g3 iMacs, so it has MacOS 8.6. that's what she's used to, so i'd rather not make her upgrade to 9. i found these two:

the second one wants 9. does anyone know of any other adapters that would work?

I don't think you are going to find anything. If you really want wireless, you should look into an wired ethernet adapter + wireless ethernet bridge for your solution. Either that, or upgrade her computer. OS 9 is just plain obsolete now though. Maybe you should try linux, you will have a much better range of choices for wireless adapters, plus better stability, speed, and choices of software as well.

I am not absolutly familiar with MacOSX 8.x, but it seems that it is not compatible according to that listing on newegg. Upgrading to OS9 might be required for that sort of thing. I really think that is your only option.

You can try calling them at 1-800-SMC-4YOU and find out if that will work on your Mom's OS...on their page, they don't exactly say it WON'T work on 8.6.
