I am running a Asrock K8Upgrade-vm800.

I want to go from 512 ram to 1gig but my manual give me 2 types of ram

DDR1 (64/72 bit 184 pin)

&

DDR2 (64/72 bit 184 pin)

I also would like to know if this board supports high density.

I know DDR2 is faster but did not know they did it in a 184 pin connection?

Please could some one tel me what I need to be looking for?

Fastest & Cheapest:)

Thanks Lee

I think that the manual means that there are two slots for DDR. I'd get some OCZ PC3200, I don't think that MOBO supports dual-channel either.

I'm sure that any 184 pin DDR PC3200 stick should work. I've found Corsair "ValueSelect" to be the most compatible, but like the OCZ stuff for OC'n.

Density isn't really a factor with modern DDR boards.

DDR2 in 184 pin is specialty stuff and has to be custom ordered. That board would not support it even if you shelled out the cash.

Any "value" ram would be fine if you are not going to OC at all.

Thanks guys, will get a 1gb stick for £22 & £4 post and package. Should kep me happy
