Hey folks,

I spent $41.15 at Advance Auto Parts and they overnighted a pair of Fedco 2-199 1977 Pontiac Bonneville Heatercores to me.

They're a sight to behold. :) Anyone have a special way to rinse out heatercores? I'd rather not have anything get stuck in my jets.

I've got plans for my M-atx portable project. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I'm cooling a 1900xt, oc'ed Opteron 144. Using 2 Heatercores, a DDx18 GPU block, and a Swiftech Storm. That's a lot of flow restriction!

Planning on Y'ing off into the heatercores after the Storm, so that they don't restrict the flow anymore than they have to. They'll feed back into a custom reservior.

Right now I'm undecided on which pump to get. I'm thinking about the MCP350 modded to a 3/4" intake, but I've already got an MCP655 to use. I'd like to use the 350 due to space constraints.

Clean with white vinegar. Rinse with it several times, let it soak for a few hours, rinse with distilled water then repeat. In the end flush with distilled water several times to get all of the vinegar out.

I've never had a problem with stuff in new cores. Does flushing them actually remove any grime/particles?

Yes, flushung new Hc's is always a good idea.

it's known as "swarf" and it COULD theoretically be in even
new cores.

always a good idea to at least flush them once.
what's it going to hurt?

IMO flushing new (and recently aquired used) WC parts is just good habbit.

All that is in the heatercore is slag from welding or excess solder. Just blow some water through with a garden hose and shake it around a bit; that should do the trick.

lol. swarf = jaggies and metal fibre from cutting. also chemical chunks or oxidized chunks

slag = beads of solder / metal.

just felt like clearing that up :) (pun intended)
