The 4700 uses a standard ATX power supply so you can use anything you want that's within that form factor.

Ok... so the measurements for my OEM 305W PSU are 156mm x 143mm x 102mm and the PSU I wanna buy is 175mm x 150mm x 86mm... my measurements arent exact for my OEM PSU but they are pretty close... do you guys think it'll still fit?

Im pretty sure dell uses nonstardard sized stuff. You could call dell and ask if it fits. and if doesnt fit you could ghetto mod it to fit.

Dell has used proprietary PSUs, but I don't think that the 4700 does. The only dimension really need to be worried about is the length. There may be some minior variances in height and width, but it should still mount fine if they followed the ATX spec.
The issue with length is that if you have a small case and a long power supply the back of the PSU may butt up against the back of your optical drive. Remember you not only need space for the actual length of the PSU, but you need a little room to spare for cables coming out of the end.

I have acouple inches of clearance between my OEM PSU and my cd rom drives so I think it'll fit fine

According to Dell the OCZ PSU will fit without a problem... now all thats left is to buy a new mobo : ) lol maybe one day

I remember replacing a PSU for a friend's Dell and I had to drill some new holes for the screws to hold it in. Other than that it fine just fine.
