View Full Version : Opera Gets Slow With Time ????
Anyone else noticed this? Opera browser just slows down ... and after a while it just stops loading any pages while the same pages are working fine on other browsers like Firefox or I.E, i have both Firefox and Opera on my rig but i slightly prefer Opera coz Firefox takes lots and lots of resources in comparison ... can anyone tell me to fix the problem ?
thanks

Do you mean over a long time after many restarts and such or over the time of just one period with the browser open the whole time? I notice it slows down a lot when I have it open for a while but it is probably because I start with a small amount of tabs and end with ~80 tabs open. I also use the integrated mail client, feed reader, irc client (occasionally), and the note tab.

The more themes/extensions you add will cause serious slow downs. The browser itself doesn't slow down to my knowledge. What you add to it does.

Opera doesn't have plugins/extensions like firefox. It does, however, have themes; I don't know anything about the themes because I have never used them. If you do have a theme installed try removing it and see if it speeds up.
well normally my computer is on 24/7 and at any given time there are around 18-20 tabs open, when the browsing get terribly slow i close down opera and start it again, haven't notice any change with reboot of the computer ...
i am not using any addon's, plugins, themes etc

I can't think of anything that would remedy the problem. I have noticed with my browser that when I get over 60 tabs open things start to slow down and even after closing all tabs it doesn't speed back up until I completely close Opera. Restarting Opera isn't too bad since it can resume from before and restore all the tabs.
Also, is this with version 8.5x or 9 (final or beta)? The version I have is 8.53.
