I recently got all the parts to my new system but I have experienced a problem. Ive got an AMD Athlon XP 1600+ , which I have unlocked using crazy glue to fill the groove and a rear window defogger repair kit to connect the L1 bridge. I am using a Swiftech mc462a heatsink with a 4400 RPM 53cfm fan. I have an EPOX 8KHA+ motherboard with the 11/2 bios and OCZ PC2400 DDR RAM (2x@256 M. I have been able to overclock the processor up to 1587 mhz. The problem that I have is when I try to run it past this. I have checked the multiplier and I can get it to boot with a 133 FSB and 12.5 multiplier (as well as 11,11.5 and 12). The problem occurs when I try to bypass this 1600 mhz barrier (with any combination of fsb and multiplier). If i get it past 1600 mhz ... I can see the change upon boot up .. but 1 of 2 things occur - 1) if i go into bios .. it freezes ... or 2) if it gets past boot up ... i get a registry error when it attempts to load windows. It is not the voltage to the CPU.. because I have that up to 1.85V. And I have read of other reviews and people who have managed to get their 1600+ up to 1700mhz and more.
I am uncertain of how I should proceed from here.
i also seem to be inadvertently crashing in xp and 2000 ..
random reboots ...
im thinking these reboots are connected to the fact that i cant get the cpu higher or vice versa ...
Please Help
