View Full Version : any shortcut to the cow level in Diablo2?

i had beat the diablo in easy level. Then i try to go to the cow level. I am not sure how to do that. After reading some FAQS, i know i have to go to somekind of tree, i know where is there tree. Soo i just use my portal to bring me there. But it seems like the trees doesn't do the magic. Do i have to beat all the enemy starting all over again to go to the cow level? I know i have to get the wrists leg but first i have to touch the god damn inifius tree.
After you beat the game in Normal, you'll go back to the character select screen or thereabouts. Select your character, and then select the Normal difficulty again. Go to the Rogue encampment (if you're not already there) and pick up a book of Town Portal from Akara. Now take that book and Wurt's leg and put them into the Horadric Cube and hit transmute. When the screens close there will be a red portal to the Cow Level. Have fun! Moo!
Last I knew, the only way to get to the Cow level of D2 was to beat it on Easy, Normal, and Nightmare. After you beat it on Nightmare, use the Horadric Cube to combine Wirt's Leg with a Tome of Town Portal. Then you open a portal with that to the cow level.

You can do it on each difficulity level. You need to beat it on every difficulty level before you can use a Hardcore character.
Okay, then that's where my confusion came in. I'll give that a try eventually.
Anyone know if it can still be done with expansion characters?

i think u guys are confuse with my question. I KNOW i should get the wrist leg but i had thrown it away coz i don't need it at the first time i complet the easy mode. Then i when i play the easy mode again. I have to find the wrist's leg all over again. FINDING THE WRIST LEG!!! ANY SHORT CUT TO FIND IT??? bout the TOwn portal, should i get it from Akara? Or i can just buy it from other town???
I am also curious. If i add my level to hella high in cow level, is the character still usable in LOD? If yes, the boss in LOD is a dead meat.

Go back to the Carin Stones, through the portal and pick it up. You might have to kill everything again, however.

Aha!!!!!!! that's my question. DO i really have to kill everything again? I don't like that, kinda waste my time and power coz they r no contender to me. Any short cut? like 2 mins story to go from the camp to the cow level?
let's say, for example, you beat normal. After you beat normal, go back to the rogue encampment and put Wirt's ( not wrist ;) Wirt in diablo 1 was the peg legged kid you could gamble with) and a tomb of town portal into the cube and bam! portal to cow level.
Your problem is you threw away the leg (tsk tsk). I'm not sure if the leg will be there again in normal mode since you tossed it, but if it is I see no reason why'd you have to kill everyone, just go grab it (you can basicly ignore the guys there, they will be weaklings to you). If not, get the hard mode leg, then go back to your normal mode game and do the cube recipe in town.

When I play D2 I dont even keep the leg. I just leave it, I can go back after I've killed Diablo and get it again. No problem.
The leg can be gotten over and over and over. Just finish the game. Start a new game on the same diff setting, go to Tristram and run to the top left side of map where Wirts corpse is. Get the leg and leave.
Go back to Rogue encampment and put Wirts leg and a TOME of Town Portal in the cube. Hit transmute. Clsoe the screen and walla there is a Red portal to the Cow level.
Beware they are tough. If you exit game before finishing the Cow Level you cant do it agaion until ya finish Nightmare. (without an editor to reset the flag)
If you've already started a Nightmare game its to late. You have to finish NM before you can go to Cow level.
Have fun
PS When you come out of portal into Moo Moo farms, let them come to you. Dont run all over the place and wake up all the cows. There are a LOT of them.

i am sure the leg would be there. It not as easy as have to grab the leg. I had to kill everyone all over again because:- if i am not mistaken, i have to touch something like an inifius tree then touch 5 symbols and a magical portal will appear. Go into the portal where i can save Cain and the boy is there (wrist). The problem is, the tree just would do the magic when i touch it by directly going to that place "by portal". It seems like the game is telling me that i have to follow the game and the story instead of knowing what will happen and touch the tree b4 have to gone after lots of killing and talking b4 that.

You only have to do the Inifus tree thing again if you are playing on Nightmare level now. If you are then you MUST finish NM before you can open the Cow level portal.

quick note,
although im probly posting this way too late. i play on west realm and i know on there that wirt's leg pops out countless times. u can take it, toss it, do watever the hell u want with it and it will keep comin back for more.
when u go to the cow lvl on closed realms though, if u kill the cow king, u cannot open the cow lvl for that difficulty again. ex. kill the king in normal, u cant open the portal to normal cow lvl again, but u can do it in nm in hell as long as u havent killed the king there.
we always just slaughter everything and lead the cow king off somewhere. that way u can do it over and over again.
o ya, the xp in cow lvl is simply amazing now. its better than blood runs if ur with the right group.

Each character can only do the Cow level ONCE per difficulty setting. Total of Three(3) times.

as long as u dont kill the cow king, u can do it as many times as u want. do it all the time.

btw just curious, what happen if you are killed in the cow level?
if u gained lots of experience in cow level, can u still pay the expendtion LOD on it?

The West realm is a multiplayer server. They're broken up into realms to keep the server load lower than if they had the whole world online on one sever.
