nice job, very clean. I haven't touched my cmoy in ages since I have a nice older reciever right now and my 'phones aren't too power hungry at the moment. When I get some different 'phones, I'll complete the dyna-lo I was working on. Actually, I may build some more c-moys for funding. I have enough parts to build about 10 of them IIRC. I want to order some PCBs (designed by me) at some point so that I can build them quickly and cleanly for ebay.

Why do people have volume control on the amp? Shouldn't you just use your source to adjust the volume? And if you did want to implement a volume control, shouldn't you do so in a way that alters the gain of the amp, not the input/output levels? I'm not critisizing you at all; I'm just curious. I even bought pots for volume control but never actually installed them due to my questions above. I figure it's just one more thing in the audio path.

well, why do you have a volume control on your speakers? because its easier to control the volume at the speakers than via software. atleast for me it is.

well it makes sense if you're using the amp with a computer, but most people that build them use them with ipods, portable CD players, etc that already have a volume control.

If people are like me, I use my Cmoy with both my computer, and my portable devices. So a volume know is very handy alltogether.
To the OP, great job! I didnt build my Cmoy, but yours is very similiar to mine :D Hope it sounds as great as it looks ;)

So why not have the volume control adjust the gain vs adjust input leves?

well... gain isnt really intended to be a volume control. with power amps... they run at a constant gain, and the input is attenuated by the preamp to make it quieter. with the vr on the input, it attenuates it, reducing volume.

I just recently finished mine too, but it's just a unity gain (1:1) so i use my computer's volume control. It also has a 1/4 cross over between the two channels and it sounds great on my grados.
It's a really tight fit in the altoids tin but it works...

And the tin in all it's glory with the red marker for labels (it's rubbing off though :( )

Nice looking amps there fellas! Good to see more headphone related DIY coming over to the OCForums. :) I wish my amp building stopped with the CMoy, because now I am stuck with eternal upgraditis (first my MH, who knows what next). At least it's fun :D.
