Right now I told myself I don't want to go to pci-express. Why because I want SLi and I would need to update my motherboard, psu, and so forth. So I heard from my friend that he got from his friend a 7800GS for $235. I saw what it can do and it would keep my system going for a while longer which I will be happy to do so. But spending on newegg $290 for the 7800, I was wondering if there is another card AGP that could equal the same performance increase as the 7800 will. ( I will like to get around spending almost $300 for that card since I want to by 2 gb sticks and maybe a new sata hard drive.

Thanks.

There is nothing AGP that will equal it's performance. It is that fastest AGP video card bar none. The X850 behind that but lacks SM3.0 and newer tech to really say it's a good choice to upgrade to seeing how all the newer games use it. IMO your upgrade to PCI-E is long over due.

the only thing close it a 6800gt (rare now) or a 6800GS with unlocked pipelines (not garrentied to work). i bought a 7800GS and was very impressed. I love it, it overclocks like mad too. Unless you get the special 24 pipeline edition (7800gs+ ) whcih arn't sold in the USA, then all the 7800GS card are referance and therefore the same. Don't spend big on an overclocked edtion either. Get the cheapest one your can find and overclock it yourself. Stock cooling is adiquate and these cards will do ~500/1500. The only thing you pay for when getting an expensive one is the ram chips, and even then i don't know how good the expencive ones are.

i bought an albatron 7800gs 256mb, and it runs at 485/1470 no problems. I've had it at 500/1500 before with no problems. Its stock speeds are 375/1200

I say sit on that 6800 you have a little while longer and save your money. A 6800 is still a pretty nice card. Wait until DX10 comes out and becomes reasonably priced and then do the huge upgrade to PCI-E.

Mmmm... GS. If you want to keep that system closer to the top for a while I would definitely recommend going for the 7800GS. That way, you can wait awhile until the DX10 cards come down in price a bit to upgrade to PCI-e
