50% Slower in XP?

I read a review at Tom's hardware (eep) and it shows bechmarks that show under xp both the G3 and 8500 are about 50fps slower! Is this trua or is it the drivers he was talking about?
As it came off Tom's hardware I don't really believe it but i want to make sure!

yea i've notice some games (nba live 2k, d2) being somewhat laggy in xp. So i guess xp just isnt the best os for gamers. :(

I think drivers have a lot to do with perfomance in WinXP. I have a Radeon 64mb DDR and ATI has managed to increase the fps in my games since the the first driver release for XP. I guess we'll have to wait till XP becomes the primary OS for almost everyone, to get some descent drivers. I did notice a drop in fps but its not that bad, my games all run good and that is fine by me, i dont really care if i get 60fps or 200fps in my games, if they are smooth and look good, im happy.

How much ram do you have?

Ram is a big issue and Windows XP..

XP runs wayyyyyyyyy more stable than 98 and it has better memory management than 98 its a way better gaming OS than 98.
