Hey all.
I just wanted to say that I think we've got a great team and great environment here.
I have joined / lurked at message boards before to get help on one thing or another, but this is the first place I've stayed and that's a testament to all of you both here and in the forums in general.
OC.com really is a great place to learn and exchange ideas and to get together to participate in causes such as FAH.
So, that's it. Just thought I'd share.
Fold On Compadres !!
I agree, I love it here. I love to fold and love the team and sharing atmosphere that we have.
I agree: I am pretty new to Folding (got recruited in a thread!) although I've been on the "other" team a little while ;)
Short Story Here:
I had problems when I first put the client on, but had to go out of town before getting things straight. Early this week I remembered that I never got my "mini-farm" folding right so I tried again and still didn't seem to get it right! So, I started a thread asking for some help and BOOM! No surprise to me, but all kinds of help!! And the third pc is starting to fold now!
Unfortunately, it seems the problem is from Crunching and Folding at the same time: SETI eats up most of the cpu, so not much is left for Folding, but it is something anyway!
Thanks to all the people who worked with me to try and make sure the client is doing all it can on my pcs: YOU get the credit for any Proteins Folded here!
Here's another "Me Too!! :D" post.
Me Too! ;) This is a good and supportive team and it's great to be a part of it. :)
Fold On!

We all have an excellent team spirit, brilliant relationship between members, and we all work well togeather and help each other when needed. This is exactly what a team like us needs, all we need now is to get ahead of OC Australia, since my move to South Africa I've been unable to get hold of my main machine, but when I move into my new house I'll get my whole farm folding again!!
I also tried it at school, but the P133s didn't take to it all that well!!:D

Did you see the thread about a 'no time limit server' that should be coming soon ? It might allow those P133s to do some work ;) .
Hey, there are new smiles now....so let's use them.

(Group Hug) Really though this place gets addictive. I have some spare time and I should be studing an MCP or something but I end up back at the forums. D@mn ADD!
I should be working... or something. But I can't help but drop in here a few times a day. Usually don't have time to post, but I have to agree. We've got a great group here at O/C, and especially on the Folding Team. Cheers!

I've got a P133 that pretty reliably turns in work units. About two per week.

I added a pentium 200 last night. It did better than I thought it would do. It did 6 frames out of 100 last night, in about 8 hours. Oh, gee, I had better update my sig! lol :)
I like this thread
I have to wait for Vijay to start the server for slow machines before adding more. I have machines to borg at work but they are Celeron 466 or less and don't run 24/7. One is a P133. Soon I hope. ;)
Still spreading the word. May be able to get something Thursday. :)
I will be away this coming weekend like a lot of people but the laptop will be with me. Machines will be rebooted to help prevent stability problems before leaving and will not be shutdown unless there is a power outage while I'm away. Only one on a UPS. folding, folding, folding, oh yeah. and the laptop will, I repeat *will* fold the whole while it's in transport. :)

If you would've told me a year ago that I would build two computers for the sole purpose of crunching numbers for a team of people that I know only through the internet, I would've said "no way!" But that is what it comes down to. I have always loved computers, and overclocking is fun, but this folding stuff really gives it all a purpose, so to speak...
So, I now feel honored to post here, in the folding thread, my 500th post!!!

dude overclock that P200, you might be able to get 266:eek: ...then it might get a frame per hour:eek:
edit:
also im adding a Celly 300 system (VAIO) once my dad gets me an AT-PS2 keyboard adapter (we have 5 keyboards extra, but theyer all AT:confused: ), and soon ill add a Celly 1.2 and a Celly 800.......of course overcloked :)...
Hey folks!
Well, I have some news about my "membership" in the Folding team: it doesn't seem like I can get any decent results while I'm running SETI: only 1 of 3 rigs seems to have a chance of getting a protein folded in the allowed time! I'm keeping that rig folding, but taking the others off for now. ( I updated my sig since I'm not really putting anything into the stats right now)
Once I hit a couple of goals I have right now I'm going to put a least 1 good rig to just folding- should be soon!
Still a great team, though- you all responded great whe I was trying to get FAH and seti to get along!
I'll be back.................

could you possibly make say the XP+dual p2 rigs folding and have the other 2 crunching(or however makes it even)? Thanks for the support though every little bit helps. If this isn't possible what os are you running?
Right now I 'm not switching anything over: I'm close to being in the top 50 and I want to hit that goal first.
What os: Win2K Pro, WinNT 4.0 Workstation x2, and Win98 SE x2.
Should be able to switch some over within 2 weeks or so.
But in case I forget, everyone here can feel free to remind me (in a couple weeks!:burn:
