I ask as ive just been given one thats all

that's a cool little gadget, huh?
Does cooling a coldplate to a lower temp make temps go down? I thought they were always under one constant temp?

he he i haven't a clue lol I'm a mine of information as long as you don't ask me anything he he

you can adjust it using voltage :) so they must regulate the voltage to the tec to keep it from going sub ambient.

hmm i guess if i remove the elements placed them under the water block on top of a cold plate on top of the cpu then mounted the temp sensor in a hot place to fool the unit into working hard and delivering max cooling ? or better using a seperate psu - or not bother he he ?

Unless its free, I'd just buy a pelt and do it yourself. I really don't like the fact that the AMD in the pdf idles at ~40C

yep tis free and just for experiments sake really tinker tinker type thing
re pdf i guess thats a typo given the burn in and sandra tests are lower and intel is idel 26c

I didn't see any mention of keeping it above ambient... unless it was assumed that it won't go below ambient (as it does have an air temp sensor).
Anyway, it does look interesting, and I'm looking forward to seeing your review.

Ive started modding this thing - started checking temp of my old water system 1/4 tubing inline pump very old but kept at stock temps reference idle = 33c temp under 30 cycles of burn in sisoftsandra was = 49c
Active cool idle temp was 26c under same 30 cycles of burnin wizard load was 31c using mb5 latest version for both tests
test pc = 1.7p4 msi board 256 meg ram.
Ive now removed the active cool PSU and riged an old 350 watt atx psu for power its still under the same fan supplied with the unit thus far.

About to run burn in again will post the results pic shortly
Nice results. I'd like to see that say on top of a X2 3800 or Opty 144 @ 2.9ghz ;)

yep he he will try my main rig when i get me new cpu stuck between 930D or 940D
But its filling time also ;)

Few more pics

http://roguesgallery.mine.nu/block/pelt4.jpg
thats using the p4 4 pin 12v pos neg to power it rather than a molex
under full load 30 cycles
http://roguesgallery.mine.nu/block/pelt5.jpg
so i guess it either needs more juice than the old psu can supply or is maxed out hmm - will try water block next - btw sandra reports cpu and northbridge temps the wrong way round on that board - so motherboard temp is cpu
