View Full Version : T-bird 1000 question
I recently switched out the CPU in my machine at work from a Duron 900@1.2 to T-bird 1000 (133 FSB) blue AXIA core currently running at 1090/145 FSB with retail HS/F with 256Mb PC133 2-3-3
Anyways I dont have much time to play with overclocking here at work, I was wondering if this CPU is locked or unlocked so I can get it running faster
Motherboard is Epox 8KTA3 and PSU is 300W Deer.

most likely it will be locked... so u probably will need to do the pencil trick. :D
So is it possible that the CPU is unlocked???
Like I said its my work machine so I really dont have any free time for tweaking or testing. I do sales and some tech support and my computer must be running whenever I am working. I put the CPU in on Monday and the past few days I've bumped it up one notch first thing in the morning and then just ran it all day and burned with SETI overnight.
I dont want to push the PCI bus much higher either...especially since I dont own it

Well if unable to OC it then it probably means its locked. But one way to make sure it to take a look at the cpu and see if the L1 bridges are connected, or even lookup the stepping code. :D
Where would I look up the code to see if its unlocked?

hmm i dont think there are any unlocked cpus (t bird) under 1.2gig
but maybe i am mistaken in this
just restart your pc and up the multiplier with 0.5 ... if the bios shows the increasement the cpu is unlocked but i doubt this is the case
hope you got lucky on this one

Well as i12bina3 said try upping the clock and see if it posts and boots..
Someone else seem to have asked the same question: http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46742
Tho looks like there isn't any "easy" solution besides looking on the chip itself. :D

Is there any chance that u have a machine at home where you could just bring it home and tinker with it.
I will try in the bios and see what happens but I doubt its unlocked. Maybe we still have some chips on the shelf from that batch so I can just look on the chip too.
And my setup at home is Intel ***---dodging flames---***
no AMD at home since k62-450 which is still working great as a typewriter/ e-mail box for my sister
Its locked
looks like 1088 is going to be the max I can get from this chip as I dont want to push my PCI devices any harder or make any mods to the chip....warranty
