First off, why do you need to a thumbnail of a movie and why do you need a thumbnail of a movie.

Perhaps do a google search for a codec that can take care of it. I'm sure there is a free codec available.

GOOGLE SEARCH

I am having the same problem in windows 7 now heh. mp4 thumb previews show up, so do wmv and avi... just not flv.

Try installing the latest version of the K-Lite codec pack (during the install, when given the option to "Make thumbnail generation possible for the following file types", select the .flv file type. Also merge this registry edit...

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.flv\ShellEx\{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]

flv has become an internet standard, companies need to catch up recognizing that.

Is there any way to install flv thumbnail generation w/o installing the potentially problematic codec packs, in other words, just the thumbnail generation and nothing else?
