Not a huge paint guy here but anywho ... make sure your primer is the same type as the paint ( Lacquer ) . Make sure its sanded well and follow those steps and you should be fine . There again , I'm not a painting guru .

OK, make sure you use a self etching primer. This will help you get a much more solid base. If your painting on plastic, stick to a plastic paint. Will same you some time and effort. You also need to make sure that you are cleaning your surface very well before you paint. Any dust, dirt, etc will cause the paint to not stick. Also baking the parts in the oven for a little bit will help out (do at own risk, not responsible for melting parts, screwing up oven, or learning how to bake a pie).

Are the buttons and whatnot plastic?
If so, it's because the paint you are using doesn't like plastic surfaces. Try using vynil dye, or see if Krylon has the color you want in their Fusion line.
Another reccommendation, go to a hobby store, and they will have the little spray cans in most every color imaginable. They will all work on plastics.
