but notice the picture shows that it is a little bit taller than a typical DIMM. the dubble decker seen above doesn't exist

Greetings to all from the world of specialty RAM (that's me)! That part does indeed exist. However, that is a 2GB module, part of the 8GB kit.

These modules are usually extremely small run or made to order parts do to their limited demand. Hence the $4000 price tag.

Here ya go! Quad Rank 4GB DDR modules:

The world of memory is much larger than most think.

useless...

On PCs, it won't work b/c software and hardware restraint

Server or workstation, they have enough slots that they don't need

8G module

I've got a couple fat SQL servers at work that could use about 4 of those and not even blink.

It's not an 8GB module. It's a 2GB module, part of a kit. Not to mention it's not even PC compliant!

This is obviously for database servers and such, those saying its useless dont know what they're talking about  its NOT for running your battlefield 2 its doing SERIOUS work, yes computers do perform serious tasks now and then :)

wow...this is crazy...a stick of RAM that is 2gb even if it is part of a kit that is so much memory. What sort of server program could use this much? even if it could use it and more then wouldn't it be better to just build the program and make it less of a hog...?

Very cool find though

This will work in a PC, just not a standard windows or linux (standard devs) enviroments.
PC=Personal Computer, which is not what these are for. They are in fact for Sun servers, which are not PCs
