I have a Northgate STAX2517 computer with 2500 athalon and 256meg of unbuffered ram. I have 2 512 meg sticks of dual channel ECC Registered ram. Could I use those 2 sticks or even 1 to replace the old unbuffered ram?

Welcome to the Forum!

No! That's my initial thought. If an OEM unit didn't come with ECC-Registered memory, 9 times of 10 it can't use it.

Usually you can install ECC modules in a mobo that doesnt support ECC and they will work. Just, without the ECC function. Doesn't work that way with ECC-Registered modules. They will not function in a board that can't support Registered.

Thank You! If i replace the memory which is CL2 but the cmos says it is 2.5 ,
could I add a stick of pc2100 at cl2.5 of add a stick of PC 2700 at 2.5?
