Well I was coming back from a Lan party the other day, and I had my tower in the trunk. I took a sharp turn and heard a thunk.

When I booted up my comp after getting home, I was greeted by the blue screen of death. Great. So I did a Windows repair on the installation. It didnt work, so I bit the bullet and reinstalled Windows from scratch, unplugging the D:\ drive so as not to corrupt any of my data.

WHen it finally got installed, Windows XP was running EXTREMELY slow, to the point where it would lag the comp when I moved the mouse. I took out the Vid card to see if that was the problem and used it on another comp I had. Nothing was wrong with it. I checked the system info, and it read all the RAM.

So now I'm at a loss, asking for your help, because I have NO IDEA whats wrong. Could it be the D:\ drive is conflicting with the new Windows install on the C:\ drive?

PLease help!

Now a 'thunk' usually means something has moved, and the question that requires answering is what made the definitive sound you report... have you since opened up the case and checked if the heatsink is still located correctly on the processor and had a good look around the system ?

Is everything located correctly ?

The "thunk" in question, was the tower tipping over, nothing appeared to have moved in the case itself.

Hmm. if access times are reducd greatly, it COUDL be a H.D.D. problem. got a spare to try installing on. I know its APITA. But you never know.

Have you installed video drivers yet? Without video drivers, some systems just lag to a point of real suckage.

If you are using window XP then you must go for system Restore to get your Computer back working normally.
Also Its good if we use Optimising tools like PC Optimizer Pro that you can find on(http://www.pcoptimizerpro.com/download.htm)
It keeps our computer safe from such Problems.
