DMA hard drives?

what is the difference between the DMA hard drives and the EIDE hard drives? i know what an EIDE hard drive is because i have the cables and several of those drives. I saw anDMA and it looks almost the same as an EIDE. any repsonse would be appreciated

They are actually the same exact thing except a DMA capable hard drive will use much much less of your CPU's resources when it is accessed. Like 3% as opposed to 50%. DMA also usually gets you faster tranfers.

Pretty much all decent modern hard drives support DMA.

DMA just means faster tranfer rates ... think of it as an IDE drive, with a turbo charger on it... it just gives it a boost to work better and faster than a stock IDE..


ok my mechanic side showed a little there but DMA is for all intensive purposes the same but just a little faster.....
