BRAVO!!! Very well said. This is the first time an article on the front page has made me start a thread in the forums. But I thought this was very good and worth commenting.
Happy Independence Day everyone!

I agree 100% with Ed! The me vs. we hits the nail on the head if you ask me.

Freedom for ME but with no concern for WE = Anarchy
Freedom for ME with respect and concern for WE = Ideal

It is the golden rule "Treat others how you want to be treated."

But we often forget that positive feedback without negative is bad. So If I say "you are wrong" it is becasue I expect you to tell me when I am wrong too. That is the only way to keep society civil and free.

That is the "Golden Rule" by the humanitarians.

The Golden Rule: "He who has the gold, makes the rules."

Nah, that's just for people who think money = power.

Not everybody has a use for gold. Friends are better.

Besides, if you have a lot of gold then odds are there is somebody out there plotting to take your gold away. Whereas, if you have a lot of friends there isn't anybody who wants to steal them quite the opposite. More people want to be your friend.

Then you and all your friends can go out "get" all the gold you want, if so inclined. ;)

Isn't there a platium rule.
Treat others how they want to be treated.

Or the second great commandment according to Jesus, yes.
Freedom for ME but with no concern for WE = Anarchy
Freedom for ME with respect and concern for WE = Ideal
If I may modify your statement:

Freedom for ME but with no concern for WE = Anarchy
Freedom for ME with respect and concern for WE = Democracy
Freedom for US at the cost of MY service = Ideal

Kinda ironic advertisement:
