Well I recently upgraded one of my servers from a 2.4ghz northwood to a dual ht xeon 2.4 rig. It showed four CPUs when I did a fresh install just to let it fold while I was getting ready for the weekend so I could swap them out, and it was showing 4 CPUs just like my other dually xeon does. The other day I swapped the hard drive from the old rig into the dually and it's only showing one cpu. Can someone please tell me how I fix that so it shows 4 like it's supposed to?
OS is windows server 2000, same as my other dually.
You'll have to change the HAL from a Uniprocessor machine to a Multiprocessor machine. You can do so in Device Manager.
Click on Computer, then Properties. You'll have to change it there.

I didn't have an option for that so I had to go to properties in the same place you said and then do an update driver and switch it to multiprocessor that way, but you got me on the right track and it works like it's supposed to now so thanks!

FYI HT and W2K is NOT recommended by MS.... It can be very buggy.

Well I've been looking for an excuse to have a client pay for an upgrade to server 2k3 and you just gave me that excuse.(Even though I've had no problems with it for the past 3 years)...it's prolly time for an upgrade anyway though.
