Well, after tomorrow, I will be off of school for a week. Time to do some serious modding. Along with h4xing my case with my dremel and making a baybus, I'm going to unlock my XP. I am planning on using clear nail polish to fill the gaps and a defogger kit to connect the bridges. I heard that using conductive grease is easier, but I don't know of any good places to order it. (I don't really want to spend $20 either for using 1/1000 of the tube. I heard the defogger kit is about $8 and I can get it at any local auto store. Well I have some questions:

1. If the processor happens to die and i want to RMA it, can I clean the nail polish and the defogger kit off with rubbing alcohol or something?

2. Since I don't have lots of experience with a soldering iron, I don't want to voltage mod my mobo. I think I can get some more out of my chip with 1.95vcore and a new psu. Can I use the nail polish and defogger kit to connect the L11 bridges ( I got this idea from http://www.ocinside.de/index_e.html...p_painting.html ). Has anyone tried this and got results? Do the L11 bridges even have laser cut gaps between them?

Thanks.

Yes, but I've got good and bad news for you...

The default vcore for the XP (all of them) is 1.75v. You can connect the one open bridge in the L11's (as like the L1's...there is a trench or slit) and raise the vcore..

Bad news, this will only bump the vcore to 1.85v default. :(

I've done it...and the MSI board I've got will still only let me go to 1.85v.....:(

Good luck with the unlocking...do that one bridge in L11 anyways too... but you'll probably have to do some form of voltmodding on the motherboard itself to achieve a vcore setting higher than 1.85v.

Thanks Mr. B. I'll try unlocking both and seing what the results are. Maybe I'll get lucky.

try aceton (or how do you say it in english) to clean your cpu ... it works for me to erase my pencil marks

Be careful with the acetone, it might dissolve more than you intended..
