is it better to buy ramsinks with or without adhesive

I would like to know if it would be a good idea to buy this:

or buy some without the adhesive so I can use my own as5 + adhesive for my rams on my 9800pro

Depends on how removable you want the heatsinks to be. You are definitely going to get better heat xfer with actual TIM then then thermal tape. Either way I would go ahead and spend the extra few dollars and get the swiftech ones.

Don't worry about whether they've got frag tape or not... just remove it and use some Arctic Alumina Adhesive instead of the as5 version. Reason being, if you screw up with the as5 version you have the potential to permenantly damage your card.

Arctic Alumina Adhesive is a pure electrical insulator, neither electrically conductive nor capacitive.

if I use the as5 will it cool better just more risky? And in which way I can screw up?

What's so special about the switches? do they come with tape?

The Silver Adhesive may give you slightly better thermal conductivity than the Alumina... but the Silver is electricly capacitive. This presents the chance to damage your card if you get this stuff in the wrong place (i.e. across some open traces). As I quoted, the Alumina is non conductive & non capacitive. It's pretty much impossible to hurt your card with it.

You'll be fine with the Silver as long as you're careful... just wanted to point out the option for the Alumina and why the option exists.

I bought ArticSilver Adhesive from easypckits at 12$ is it better then the alumina? is it dangerous what's the diference between the first and regular as5.

...with the bottom line being that Alumina = non-conductive & non-capacitive / Silver = non-conductive & slightly capacitive.
