I'm planning on drowning my system in the next few months. I have seen other sites that have done this, I don't remember the sites. They didn't use a heatsink though, and I plan on using one.

My thinking is that the heatsink would pull the heat into the fluid faster, and cool better than just relying on direct contact of the fluid to the core.

What fluid are you submerging in and what are you going to use for a case? Do you plan on pumping the liquid around? Active cooling of the liquid?
I'd be interested to know what kind of setup you're planning and to see temps and pics.

The fluid is Flourinert (sp?) from 3M, it is spendy, which is why I won't be doing this for a while. I have an Antec full tower case I'm going to use, and I will be pumpimg the stuff through a chiller with pelts, like the one that OC-WC has.

I'm not sure how well full immersion will work in a normal antec case, wouldn't it leak, like, A LOT??? Most of the people I've seen do it do it in an aquarium or Styrofoam cooler. Flouronert can supposedly be had for far less than the US$500/gallon that you may have heard. I don't know any sources for it, but you should be able to find it much cheaper.
Good luck and post results and pics when you're done!!
Peace

I plan to seal all of the holes and cracks in the case with silicon caulking.

Sounds cool, be careful with the leaks though and keep us posted.

I've heard of people doing this with mineral oil.... I'd more suggest the aquarium/cooler idea and leave your Antec for a more suitable use... you'll be fighting leaks all day long.

How about getting an old large tank and putting the case frame in it?
Like say, a large fish tank then puttin gthe drive cages and the case cage in with it?
