I want to install Vista on a slave IDE. Problem is how do i configure my bios to boot from my SATA instad of my slave? My bios says my SATA is IDE 1 Slave. My motherboard is an Abit IC7.

On my DFI board, there is a sepperate section for boot order. You can move hard drives up and down the list. Try checking other sections of the bios for something like that.

On my mobo i have 2 sections, one for setting the basic boot order whihc you set as something like: hard drive - cdrom- floppy or smoething, i also have a subsection for hard drive boot order where i can order all connected hard drives.
EDIT: googled for about 5 seconds and came up with this:

Best bet would be to eaither install GRUB or something like suggested or edit vista boot loader, i'm not sure but if vista still has boot.ini edit that and add a new line like:
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
or possibly
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
Not sure but one of those should work. Like i said though, they might have changed the format of the boot loader or something. Best look at the file and see the format of the one in there then go from there. or google about it.
