Hi there guys.

I have an Athlon 1.2Ghz CPU on a MSI K7Turbo Limited Edition RAID Mobo, I have it overclocked at 1400Mhz with only air cooling, is this a good Overclock:confused: can I expect more with a better heatsink??? if so, any suggestions, as I have hit a brick wall with this heatsink (Ripp off version of teh super orb (no copper base!))

Thanks,

Andrew

that is a very good overclock with that heatsink, do not consider an orb as a replacment, get a sk6 or other copper heatsink with a powerful fan on it, also consider some artic silver as a thermal compound to impove thems by around 5 degrees

What are your temps now?

Thanks for your replies, My current temps are 55-57:eek: C depending on the temp outside, it is about 30-34 degrees here in adelaide at the mo, so i guess thats ok... I have a Global win WBK38 on order with a delta fan, and am hoping that that will be a major improvement over this hump of crap that I have at the mo... Also I overclock in two ways, first I just use the standard 133x10.5 = 1400, and then the 140x10 (fiddle with the voltage) =1400 as well, however I find the multiplier overclock to be more stable.

Any helpful comments would be appreciated, thanks.

Don't buy the WBK38!!!!!!!!! I have one, its ok but for the same price you can get SOLID COPPER versions (globalwin even do one called the cak38) and they will be cooler!
Or for a bit more get an 80mm one! (Only if your board has the 4 monuting holes around the cpu socket.)

And don't forget arctic silver!

P.S. Cak38 is a fan not a bad word.....:D

nice overclock

you should be able to go higher but get some better cooling first
Ive had my 1.2@1.5 stable and 1.6 unstable

I normaly never let my temps go over 45c load so you may want to back it down a bit untell you get better cooling

Nice OC, by the way.
