Don't know if this is pretty common knowledge, but I stumbled upon this great program (this is one of those ones that you hope and pray is out there, but can never seem to find.) It supports every codec I have ever heard of. I am using it to convert .vob (dvd files) to mpegs for use on my pocket pc.

found it on best freeware extended list (another great sight)

Enjoy.

I am using DVD Shrink to encode the videos to .vob files (but not then burning the vob files on a dvd) and instead using SUPER to convert them to small mpeg files (I got an hour an a half movie down to only 125mb or so with my pocket pcs native resoultion (240 x 320). Dvd shrink doesn't take long at all, maybe 15 minutes (?), and I have no idea how long SUPER took, I started it and went to bed.

Also, everything should be way quicker on your guys comps, mine knida sucks if you hadn't noticed already.

sweet I'll try this out. i've been trying to use Videora to convert my video files for use in my iPod but the sound never seems to be perfectly in sync with the video and it drives me nuts. Videora is also seriously lacking in customization options. It's kind of a noob program.

EDIT: still having sync issues with this program

EDIT #2: solved sync issues by using a different video format
