I will be getting a copy of Win XP Corp Full on Monday. Up until now I have been using Win98/SE/ME.
What would be best to use to create a backup copy of the CD? Does the XP CD do anything to try and prevent backup copies from being made? I have a fairly recent copy of Nero I can use, will that work? This has nothing to do with pirating or warez, I just want a backup copy of the CD in case something happens to the original.
My CD-RW drive is a Philips 8x4x.
Any advice would be much appreciated. I am sorry if this has already been addressed in another thread. If it has, I would appreciate it ifyou might post a link to that thread.

This isn't a good question but just try it and it should work. you should just put it is a safe place.

If you copy the CD onto your Hard Drive, then copy the image to a CD, you should be OK
Let me know how you get on installing it. Is it a clean install, or an upgrade from 2000?

This will be a format/fresh install since the XP version is Corp Full, and I simply do not trust it to properly update from Win ME.
I think your cd will have no errors.. Brand new from the box.. Unless your cd rom has some problem and scratches the cd.

I certainly don't expect the CD to have any errors out of the box, but assuming for the sake of argument that I do a re-install once a year-ish (more with Win95/98/ME, hopefully less with XP) and given that I don't have the best track record with regards to keeping track of things, and the things I manage to keep track of often sustain their fair share of bumps and bruises, and you never know when your dog is going to think a shiny disk might be neat to chew on for a bit, I am just going to go the safe route and keep a backup copy, maybe at my office or at some other location where I can know where it is in case the original befalls some hideous fate.
i have a corporate edition of XP and have backup copies
i have even been able to install it on multiple machines, thats whats different about the corporate build
the only problem you might run into is that sometimes hidden files don't get copied over
just to prevent this, go to start button, right click, and then click explore
then goto tools, then to folder options, and then turn on hidden files
at default they are set to hidden
then do like redeathdrinker said and copy it to your hard drive
or explore the drive with XP CD in it
then you will see everyfile that needs to copied
you can highlight, select all, and then send it to your burner
thats it
good luck
i assume you new how to do this type of stuff, but i decided to make it detailed for the people who come along and don't know how to get around to certain things on their comp
good luck
Your much better off creating an exact copy of the disk with say Clone CD then you are copying the files over thru Windows explorer. Atleast then the CD will be bootable. Otherwise you need to compile a bootable CD which works ok too. But it's just much easier to make a copy.
