The XP2500+ codenamed Throughbred is a .13 micron processor that cuts the voltage and die size down by up to 40%. Now, with all this talk about 333fsb processors hitting the market early next year, most AMD fans that think of Throughbred are wondering if it will ever make it onto the current 266fsb systems. I can tell you yea, there is a 266fsb series, I just dont know the exact MHz and when AMD will stop it at.

The Throughbred has all the same features as the Palamino processor exept it has one big advantage, .13microns. By shrinking down everything, your gonna have a wild overclock.

Think of how almost all of todays motherboards support 1.1V~1.85V core voltages, and the new throughbreds run defualt @ 1.25V, think of the overclocking potential without even a motherboard modification.

~~My Guess At The 266fsb Throughbred~~
I'm guessing, they will release it in 4 flavours for the 266FSB version. XP2200+/XP2300+/XP2400+ & XP2500+. In my opinion, I believe AMD will hack this series @ 2GHz and from there only release 333FSB processors. Seems about the right thing to do.

Throughbred lives a short future
-----------------------------------------
This is true, Barton will replace Throughbred as soon as AMD needs to play catchup to Intel. Because AMD's Barton processor will definatly have 512KB of Cache, you can expect a change to the current PR rating.

I hope this info clears the air for any concerned AMD upgraders. Best of Luck with your choices!!:burn:

Even w/ all of that, I'm still gunna skip the Thoroughbred for now and buy an XP, then wait till the Hammer is released.
