New (old) rig, new problems (wont post)

ok this is my old rig
amd k6 166
ali mobo
200w psu
maxtor 4.3gig
64meg pc133
...
the usual stuff
heres the prob ... cant seem to get my screen to show anything
tried changing the graphix card ... nothing
what could it be?
just putted a coolermaster for a 1.2gig on the thing (spare one) and i want to OC it ... just for fun
help me fix this

I'd try reseating the cpu first off. Thats done it for me once or twice.

ok i got it to boot and now its already running at 75*3 = 225 ... ice cold with the fat cooler on it :)
but the prob is that it sees my memory as 16meg instead of 64 ... any idea what i might change to get this to go?

again, reseating stuff can help.

Also: how many sticks are you using? and what sizes?

You may have a bad stick: try one at a time.

one 64meg pc133 ... thats all i put in
i tried changing the slot ... but they both showed me it was 16meg
i tried putting it in my p200 and there it said it was 64 so im not quite sure whats going on

What is telling you that it is 16Mb, your BIOS or the OS, try looking at the computer properties, just right click on "my computer" and at the bottom, does it say 16Mb, or 64?

Edit: Oops, I forgot to say, after you right click, ckick on properties, but if you'r at this sight, you should already know that, am I bad!

Did you mean K5? or K6? I thought K6 started above 200/233MHz?

it could be a k5 ... but that doenst really matter here i think

It's gota be a k6 because I herd a LONG time ago that the k5's where locked at a 1.5 multiplier:( just like my blasting Cyrix is locked at 2x. My FSB was 66, now it's at 83, but I had to get a heatsink 2 or 3 times as big just to satisfy that blastin thing. But like I was saying, a k5 cant run that fast, I think the max for those where 133, so was that Cyrix, but you can always change that:D

ok then its a k6 because i can make it go at 75 * 2.5 ... i putted a 1.2gig cooler on the thing, should be just enough :cool:
is that overkill :)
