I just put together a new system

Abit KG7 Raid mobo Voltage Mod
1.4ghz Tbird 266fsb
256mb DDR PC 2100 (Mushkin)
400watt power supply

Water cooled

So just did the voltage mod last night been fooling around with it since. Before i did the voltage mod i used to be able to overclock this bad boy to 1.667ghz @ 11.5 x 145 with 1.80vcore and boot windows with no problems this was before i did the voltage mod. Now after the voltage mod @ 2.09 Vcore i cannot get windows to boot at 1.6ghz.?? I always thought once u did the voltage mod you can get more Mhz out of the CPU not less mhz? Whats the deal why cant i get past the speed i had before i did the voltage mod?

Thanks for the help

i tryed that too at 12x by 142fsb which should be 1.7ghz but couldnt boot windows. My computer went dumb. For some reason it gives me a NTLDR is missing error if i try to o\c to high.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks again

When in doubt go back to basics. If there is a quick way to disconnect the voltage mod, do it and see if you can get back to the OC you had before. If you can't, then you may have damaged something during the mod. If you can, then check your mod for any "virtual shorts".

Can i just disconnect one of the ends off the POT....? And then just leave it hanging or will i have to doconnect the end of the Chip? Because it was pretty hard to solder it on there. thats why i just wanna diconnect the end off the pot so that way i can just solder it back easy if it works?

It looks good to me there are no "Virtual Shorts" its a pretty clean soldering job.

But why would that cause me not to reach higher OC speed?

If you get a message saying you have a missing NTLDR, go back into BIOS and re-initialize the hard disk - make sure it's detected. This is the error message you usually get if your BIOS is set to "No Plug and Play OS", and no bootable disk is detected. Another possibility besides the BIOS overlooking your disk is that your drive controller went AWOL if you push your FSB too high. Are your bus speed divisors correct, and is your hard disk attached correctly?

I only get that NTLDR if i go too high on my overclock

Alright i diconnected the Voltage mod i am trying to get 12x by 133 and i cannot boot it. I used to be able to boot 1650 now i cannot. Whats the deal.
