Ok so the situation is my friend has access to several computers at work, but he's not allowed to install any programs, just browsing internet and listening to cds...
My questions are:
1) Is there any DC project that is run inside a browser window? (bandwidth isn't a problem)
2) Would an external hardrive (USB 2.0) be fast enough to run a DC project from?
Thanks for the help.

you can run F@H from thumbdrives.
However, if he isn't allowed to install DC projects, write a letter for him to take in explaining what you are requesting, what benefit the DC project provides (choose one, don't multiple DC on them!), and that you'd like to talk with them about setting up one of thier machines as a test machine (with free IT service to fix it if something goes wrong, they'll love that) to see if it is feasible that they donate some of thier machine time to a great cause.
err, you're really supposed to have permission...
maybe majestic 12 is considered browsing the internet though
I've got access to 500+ p4 630s :) all with 512MB of ram, also a few Xeons haha, access, but no access to install stuff sadly :(

Ok the same sad story...no permission :(
I'm not even going to pursue it. He just said something after I told him about the wonders of distributed computing. I guess I'll just skip all this headache and build my own farm.
