I ordered one, I am currently using onboard sound card with really nice speakers setup..I wonder if I can notice a very big difference. I'm using dell 5.1 speaker along with an amp and 2 rear bose speakers..I hope this sound card is worth the $82 :O

hopefully your games play without the snap crackle pop that is being complained about all over Creative's forums. I will pass until their get their **** worked out.
How much better can this sound card be than my Audigy 2?
Will I be able to hear enemies in hl2dm source farther away? :)

Unless you have a very astute ear, you probably wont hear a difference. I went from onboard to xfi and it was like night and day.

Same with me, i'm using onboard sound right now and my X-fi should be here tomorrow at my door. i'm pretty excited. now i just need to find some good speakers to go with it.

It depends on your ears if you should up from another creative card. FOr me, I have very sharp ears, so the difference is notable to me. This should compliment my 400W logitechs perfectly =)
This is perfect timing. The sound on my father's computer just crapped out on him, so i am getting him this.

I received mine and put it up last night..from onboard to x-fi..I have to say wow the difference is very big..and I'm loving this card right now..the only problem i've been expericing was that last night when i was playing WoW, my comp got rebooted. I dont knwo if that's caused by the sound card or not..and after it crashed my sound stopped working. After that I was like ok i'll try to reboot again and it fixed my sound..but a new problem came up...the "Entertainment Mode" volume control/mixer stopped working..everytime when I open it up..it freezes...everytime..so I reinstalled the driver and it worked. I hope I won't get the same problem tonight when i get home.

I played Bach's cantata 140 Chorus simultaneously on my xfi and onboard sound. There is no comparison. I heard the most minute detail from my xfi that the onboard didn't pick up.
However, that is my ear listening to a song I know well.
As far as gaming, I hear a lot more and I have more precision.

Try installing the latest driver from the creattive website, the ones from Jul-03

I agree I havent even gamed with my X-fi yet but I sat up all night listening to music, it's so nice to be able to max your speaker volume with no distortion. Not to mention everything sounds so much cleaner and crisper.
you guys are really pressuring me...
i have an audigy 2, and i play hl2 and cs: source and nothing else... anyone know if i can hear enemies much better with this card?
it's just that i think the sound in source sucks... compared to the regular counterstrike and condition zero i can hear enemies farther and better.
supposedly the card sux for gaming, but that could be said for any Xfi card right now. There are severe issues with this card, and what people speculate as being an oversaturation of the PCI bus. If you look on their website, there is a forum that has hundreds of posts in regards to gameplay on their new cards...not good.

i just received mine and i don't have any problems whatsoever in my games. i play bf2, fear, aoe3, cs...
