using the cats 6.6 ccc and all is good, except i would like to be able to make the fan run at a higher speed. the card gets warm and i don't mind a little fan noise when gaming since i can't hear it anyway with headphones on.
so is there a program that works ok ccc and its o/c option but allows me to control fan speed on the card?
thanks

Ati Tray Tools works well. I think AtiTool has that option as well. ATT can't overclock the x1800's yet, but I still use it because its a lot faster at changing stuff thank CCC (which I uninstalled).

I am using rivatuner for fan control / monitoring on my x1800xt... works slick, but again, no OC option except 2d clocks.
I think he wants a program that controls fan speeds and won't mess with his Overdrive settings while using CCC and 6.6. I'd be interested to if you can use tray tools or riva tuner without it messing with overdrive's settings.

AtiTray will not touch an X1000 card's clocks, you'll find the overclocking section disabled.

i know it won't touch the clocks, but it will change the fans speed, and i am hoping that ccc will o/c the card in 3d apps and atitray will change the fan speeds.
i have tried this so far and it seems to be working with the o/c working from ccc and the fan chaning from atitray, now i just need to push it a bit and see how it goes....
use atitool with dynamic fan speed, just make sure you dont disable the clock switch when it asks and then you can control fan speed and max out overdrive OC without issue if thats what you want. I am using 6.6 cats and the last beta release of atitool...
PS ati tray sucks

i have had the exact same luck, ati tool regardless of how i set it up it usually crashes, but ati tray is working well. i am going to run 3dmark05 a couple of times and see how it goes.....

actually it is working. i have done a couple of 3dmark05 tests with the ccc o/c the gpu to 692/792 and since i have been able to move up the gpu fan and the card doesn't get much over 70C, which is nice bacause it was hitting 80C @ 675/775.
i am going to game tonight bf2 for some time and test it again.
so between rm clock, ccc and ati tray my cpu can go from 1.1GHz up to 2.5GHz and my gpu can go from stock up to 692/792 from a stock of 621/747.
my cpu never goes over 60C either. mind you that i am in phx, az - my ambient room temp atm is ~84F and i am running my machine in a mid-tower original lanboy case that has 1x80mm intake, i modded it to accept a 70mm intake fan to blow over the hdd cage, 1x80mm exhause and then the large fan on the psu.
idle temps for the cpu are ~37 and for the gpu are 55C, i am using a zalman hsf combo on the cpu but the gpu cooling is stock, i haven't even taken it off to put on as5 yet.
my stock 3dmark05 are ~8700 and maxed they are ~9600, so not bad just by messing with power on demand programs.
i am going to contact ati and see how low the gpu can go for web stuff since i don't need any power for that.
being that i game at most 20% of the time, it is nice not to ride the components hard all the time, this makes me want to move the cpu up to maybe 2.7+ with a little extra V.

slap a new cooler on it cause i cant stand the noise on x1800xt stock fan, best thing to do cause they run way to hot and fan speed at 100% even 70% is loud.
but if you dont want to ati tool is perfect to make it run at certain speed.
this was my old settings when using ati tool
37c 36%
40c 41%
43c 41%
45c 45%
47c 45%
50c 50%
55c 86%
56c 100%
