I plan to sell my old rig's parts like the CPU, mobo, mem (the 64MB).
And get a Duron CPU instead where I buy there are only from 750 - 900 MHz Durons available... Which one should I buy that would give me best overclock, and I'm not talking about the highest speed but best overclock.. (i.e 900 will run 1100, but 750 will run 1050, I'll prefer the 750.). Any idias?

ok this is what i do with durons ... i always tell everybody to try to buy the lowest one ... i had a 750 at first but i traded it for a 600 ... so the best thing you could do is take the 750 although i dont like that chip because i personally think it is the weakest OCer so i would go with the 800.
If you can find a 600 take that one ... best OCable duron if you ask me

I would go for the 800. I think it's one of the best Duron's to OC.

I had an 800 I traded it for my 850.. I get a little more out of it than I got from the 800 but the 800 was a solid chip, no question about it!!

Check www.pricewatch.com.
There is a vendor that is selling Duron 850s for the same price as the lowest price on 750s. Just ordered one the other day :) .

Now I just need to know if a 300W PSU will be enough? I know that for my T-Bird going higher than 1.75V on the Vcore causes low 5V, but what about the Duron?
I was also interested in the best steppings. but I need to know couple of different and good steppings, so if they don't have 1 stepping I could order another.
And what is the default Vcore of the Duron CPU, is it 1.5 or 1.6v?
Thx

300W should be plenty. I closed the L7 bridges on my 750, giving me 1.85 vCore and my 5V rail was always 5.02 with a 300W PSU (2 IDE HDD and 1 CD ROM as well).
I believe the default vCore is 1.75.
My stepping on my 750 (RIP), was ANCA and it seemed great. I did not have it on a great OC board (ECS), but with only FSB adjustments and upping the vCore I got 1035 out of it.
Too bad I chipped the core...but I ordered one of those cheap 850s to replace it. Should be here Wednesday...

My two Durons are stepping AKCA, they seem good also.
BTW, DB, how did you chip your core?

Got the Duron from www.tcwo.com. It shipped same day without problems (hurry UPS man...). You have to call and order it though because you have to mention the pricewatch price. The actual price on their web site is $50.
Chipped the core while moving the computer. Dropped it on it's side. The HSF must have chipped it. I read where other people have CPUs with all 4 corners chipped and they still work, but not this camper. It was dead.
Went to pricewatch and found the 850s for $35 + $5 shipping. Couldn't beat that deal. I like Newegg, but could justify the near $50 (incl shipping) for the 750.
I doubt the 850 will do 8.5 x 138 (like the 7.5 x 138 with the 750), but we'll see. That would be a great OC, but I'm not holding my breath.
My folding production is sucking right now though without that Duron :( .

I think flounder43 and I did just give you two good steppings in our posts above.

Yea, I saw them, thx... just wanted to know if there are any more good steppings you didn't mention.
I have a ACKAR stepping duron.. I screwed around with it with a super cheap celeron HSF and 1.85 volts and it ran at 1gig no problem. I'm sure with better cooling/and or voltmod it would 1.1-1.2.
