Ok I have a M7VIB biostar motherboard and had a geforce2 MX orginally.
I used this with 12.xx drivers for awhile with never a lockup, but switched to 21.xx later on and outside of games at desktop, folders, IE, netscape etc, I would freeze every few mins.
However I could enter a game( DAOC/EQ/Red Faction) and play 12 hours 10 days in a row and never lockup( only to lock up before or after leaving a game.).

So I went back to the 12.xx and life was good, no more lockups.

Tonight I purchased the geforce2 TI card( went from 175/143 to 250/400 gpu/memory!) and it installed the 21.85 drivers off cd, and the lockups came back again to haunt me.
In the process of going back to the 12.xx atm, but with all the new features of the TI 2nd generation I am afraid I am gonna be hurting my preformance by going backwards:(

I run a 1.4 ghz AMD, with windows 98se OS.

I tried with the old card a reformat and it did not cure the problem. Was same after fresh install as before only pre 21.xx worked with no crashes.

Anyone have any idea what in the world could do this?
I have disabled fast writes, etc and no luck, its something in the drivers, even though I am using the 9x win drivers:(

I'm not sure it's the 21.xx drivers for people are using them even though i don't reccommend them. Try the 22.xx series they perform much better. But for stabilty and performance I never had any problems with the 12.xx series.

drivers can be found here: GURU3d.com (http://www.guru3d.com/)

r u getting the 21.xx from nvidia?
if not, try getting it from there.

also, did u ever tried to install the XP before anyother else? or, when you update it to the XP r u sure youve removed the 12.xx completely - using detonator destroyer?
