I have been able to overclock this 1700 to 1958 with out any problems. I'm using the lowest voltage setting which is default for the stock fsb. Here is the strange part! Now knowing my fsb is at 115mhz to arrive at the current speed of 1958 (which by the way is what MBM shows not by calculation) and when i increase the setting to 118 mhz it won't post. Ok so i raise the voltage 1 step. Nothing ! Another step. Nothing! I crank it to the max. Nothing! So maybe the voltage doesn't work in my bios for this board. I've tried every setting from 118 mhz to 133 mhz and nothing either. Nothing posts after 115 mhz!

I've heard in the past "TC" had done a voltage pin mod on his P4 chips to get above 2000 MHZ.

hey.. I just want to know.. does the voltage effect the preformace of the cpu? If so.. can u tell me if 220W is enought for a P4 1.5?

I had a 300W in my original case but seemed like i had to many problems due to low voltage. I knew the P4 needed more voltage so i added an extra 350 W power supply unit and everything went fine. I have MBM (temp, voltage software) which showed at the time of the 300 W PSU i had voltages below normal.
I'm pretty sure your 220W PSU is definitely pushing the limits of not enough power. Besides i never saw a unit that small with the extra 12v plug to the motherboard.

sigh.. I must really look like an idiot :) people lie to me so much! :)

Phoenix, I've heard some reports that those Asus mobos won't change CPU core voltage in the BIOS like they should. Maybe install a hardware monitor program to check what your voltages are really running at. The other possibility is that you need better cooling which I always recommend having good cooling prior to increasing the voltage.

Miss Winnie, a 220 watt power supply is a little wimpy for a P-4 in my humble opinion. Additionally, P-4 CPUs require a power supply that is P-4 compliant. Older power supplies don't work with newer P-4 CPUs. I think most people would agree that 300 to 350 watt power supplies are about minimum required for P-4's. Don't feel bad Miss Winnie, this is how we all learn. That is why we have this forum, so we all can learn from our mistakes or from being deceived in your situation.

.. You need a way better PSU than 220w..

I use 230w for my comp! Get the Enermax one and you'll be sure your voltages aren't dropping..

The P4T will not change the voltage - it's a bug. They released a new bios which was supposed to fix this, but it didn't work for me. I ended up wire wrapping the cpu pins. I finally sold the P4T and got a TH7II. It will adjust the voltage, but the setting doesn't match what you get.

Yo TC. Congrats on the blue stars. I have come to completely ignore the voltage thing on my board. I am running right now at 2125 and all I did was max the voltage in bios (whatever effect it had) and set the ram mutipier to 3x. Would not post above 118 without adjusting the ram. The HSF is a Swiftech MC462-P4 Rev.1. Ambient temp is 24C, Idle is 40C and Full load is 48C folding protein.
