i got it to work if I disabled smoothvision both in OpenGl and Direct3D. If not the game will start but I can't move. Disable that allow me to play to game, but when I exist counter strike, i got windows error and the desktop is set to 640 x 480.
Also team fortress, is that only multiplayer? I have a very slow internet connection at home so I don't plan to play games online, but I could not start the game. I activate Team fortress and click done. I'm in team fortress menu, New game is grey out. How do I play team fortress? Thanks....

well, i dont have the radeon 8500 yet, but i can answer some your questions. Both team fortress + counterstrike are multiplayer game mods for half-life and dont have single player modes. Half-life comes with the radeon 8500?? i didn't know that. what other software does it come with??

You can download bots for both mods, but I personally dont think its worth it.

half-life comes with the 8500 to demonstrate the truform technology....also half-life is the best fps ever!!!!! it is THE firstpersonshooter......the combination of brains and brawn needed was perfect in the game....max payne might be better, but it took me 2 wonderful months to beat half-life the first time, and it took me two weeks to beat Max Payne, not too god of a return on my ivesment...

i got half-life with my radeon 8500 and have had no problems with it. I called valve and spoke with their tech dept cause i wanted to know if the game was retail or not, and he was not aware that half-life came with the radeon card. this version is not the full version of half-life it is counter strike. Hope this helps

Sn00pdog,
Did you disabled smoothvision? If not, did you have under opengl, antilasing disable? If I have it set to 2x or above, the game will lock up at the start. For direct 3d, I have it set to leting the app. choose.

Just checked my settings i'm using opengl, anti-lasing is disabled
the smoothvision is set to 2x but i just bumped it to 4x i want to see what happens. Did you download the latest drivers yet?

yeap, got the lastest driver. That's strange. I need to check my setting again when I get home. I can't have, under opengl, antialising set to anything if I want to game to run. I have to disable that. Here is the kicker, when the game start, it will freeze but I hear the sound of my footstep when I press forward, backward, etc but the picture just freeze.
