Retail.

I don't think this is something people on this forum like to hear. It's orders like this that cause price mistakes to be noticed, corrected, and have all orders cancelled.

When everyone's orders get cancelled, the blame gets pinned on the guy that tried to order 20.

well seeing as how this will wind up on slick deals in about 25 minutes I am not worried about it nor does the fact that I order 20 or 2000 matter a lick if its a price mistake they are going to cancel them anyway (shrug)

Krusty
07-23-06, 09:50 PM
If it hits slickdeals, yes. It will probably be cancelled when they start getting hundreds of orders in. However, they tend to notice things earliler when people order 20 at a time. For those that catch the deal early, they occasionally get their product.

The problem with your logic is this...

The purpose of this section is to give Forum Members an opportunity to SHARE on good deals...not for one or two individuals to go out and buy out the stock and then try to turn it into a "decent payday" for themselves on eBay.

Shame on you.

funny thing is that I don't do decent payday on ebay much and I generally get the stuff I buy back out to the guys at almost no markup. take a look a some of my forsale thread in the forsale forums (shrug) if I should hang my head in shame for having a couple of bucks in my pocket to buy I shall do it just because you said so :D

ok on doing some research on this deal over on some other forums apparantly when this was posted here all of the instore pickups were canceled do to non availability and those online were backordered So arguing whether I blew up the spot on this deal is moot.

and I will just make sure in the future I don't post quantity I buy :D

Reefa_Madness

Its not about having a couple of bucks more in your pocket than the other guy. I've got a couple of bucks in mine, too.

If you are in fact going to resell to forum members at or close to the original Cyber Deal price, then no harm done, however, your own post indicates that you are looking at this as an opportunity for a "decent payday"...those are your words. I'm not interested on researching your past For Sale items, only troubled by your posts in this specific thread.

I stand behind my opinion that the purpose of these threads are not for personal financial gain of the first few that read them, but instead to spread the opportunity for all to get in on good deals.

Clearly not everyone feels the same way.

And clearly not everyone should keep on with the war about one person having a different idea then another.

@least he is man enough to post in open what he has done unlike most would do are have done.

I agree with both sides so it's hard for me to say either way. I dont like it when people buy out item's and dont leave the price mistake or hot deal for other's but on the other hand if I had the chance I would probably do it myself depending on the product and deal involved.

the funny thing is its all semantics.

to give an example I posted about some sound cards I had shipped to me and instead of the audigy 2 ZS they sent me X-Fi. I asked a simple question in the general community forum.

What would you do and the overwhelming response was to be honest and call the company and report that I had gotten the more expensive part. Which by the way I did do and was told that it was a substitution.

Now based that honesty is sthe best policy taking advantage of pricing errors would be unethical and so the pricing error should be reported to the business. Not taken advantage of.

Heck I didn't even know it was a price mistake I thought it was a sale. That being said. I really don't see the issue but if it is a pricing mistake I wouldn't expect to receive them

oh well another day another dollar.

Pricing mistake or super sale...neither changes my opinion of why people start threads in the Cyber Deals section, or for that matter, why the Cyber Deals section exists in the first place.

This has nothing to do with "honesty" and everything to do with the sense of fair play being displayed, or lack thereof.

Take advantage of a sale, if you need the item, and let others do the same.

If someone is looking for inventory to sell on eBay...go to the flea market...don't do it at the expense of your fellow forum members by making bulk purchases of Cyber Deal finds.

I've expressed my opinion, now I'm done with this topic.

You know, this is just like the ATi video card eposide from about a month or so ago. You don't suppose that the folks over at Microcenter are doing this on purpose? I mean, it does generate a lot of traffic to their site and they can always plead mea culpa later. I just can't see these pricing error deals happening so frequently. Especially when they JUST had one.

i feel that if someone buys a mass of these to resell ata later date, as long as he is selling them for 10-15 over what he paid, and not making a KILLING, he deserves a little profit for his time, as he had the cash on hand (or credit lol) to get them, and holds on to them until a later date, when the sale is no longer available, and provides these for less than we'd pay anywhere else.. he put some effort into it, and should be compensated for it. if he were to give them to us at cost, what exactly motivates him to even do it? all it is is a headache for him.

if it werent for the backorder situation i probably would have jsut had one of my impulses, where i spend money i dont really have. ill be near a microcenter retail store this weekend, but since they're backordered i prolly wont bother. need to go to compusa too, to pick up a case if they have any left.

only the market will determine what a killing is. If he tries to sell them for more than newegg no one will buy them! and he'd be FORCED to lower the price , he deserves to make as much as the market will bare for his time and money, you can't cap someones profits, if he had the cash (or credit) to buy them whos to say how much he can make ? - how do you think stores make money ? they find stuff at super low prices (warehouses) and sell them to you at a price as high as they can sell for that still has people buying

I got in on the video card deal from microcenter a while back.

Those who ordered 2 or more had their orders cancelled, those who bought just one received their product in about 30 days.

While I wanted a pair to go SLI, I ordered just one and grabbed my second one when ebay got flooded (about the same time I received my product).

yeah that would be cool if it goes through. I was tempted to order 2 or 3, but I don't like dealing with the trouble of reselling stuff, especially on Egay. I would probably use it to build a low-cost backup rig.

I dropped by a physical store (Santa Clara) and it's massively, massively out of stock. Like just plain.. zero, and no ETA on getting more. The employee had no idea that it existed, but he checked in the system and noted it was a 'Class A' or something item? - basically that it's still something they're selling and putting on the shelves as much as possible. He wrote down the SKU number so he could grab one when they came back in, and wrote down my phone number to let me know. :D

I checked Fry's, and they seem willing to pricematch 110% - the massive price difference means they'll probably call and check to see if it's in stock, though. I was just honest about it and told the guy that MC didn't have any today, but are probably getting more Tuesday or Thursday.

If your going to sell stock rigs with them that would be cool, but for overclocking, Nforce4 chipsets give intel CPU's a bad name :(

The mobo does just fine for moderate overclocking. It's not a great choice for benchmark junkies because it doesn't like 1T at high memory speeds and you're not going to much much over 300 on the HTT, but for 90% of people this is a great motherboard.

baa.. Its an AMD board?? then its fine.. 300HTT is cool :)
Same board for Intel hits about 240FSB tops (on a VERY GOOD day or if your VERY lucky!).. that sucks!! :(

I thought it was the Intel version, if not my bad.
