He did it on the badaxe!!!! (probibly his 10th one :p ) Good greef he needs to pop it in one of his other motherboards.
LN2 does the chip good :D

Sooner or later we'll be seeing 8.xxx seconds ;).
Too bad that dramatically shortens the lifespan of it... but holy shi-zle... I don't think there's even a use for that processing power right now :p
(is he running that on one core?)

No use for it? RAR'ing and unRARing a DVD full of stuff can take 6 minutes on my rig. coolaler's rig could probably do it in 3 minutes.

that rig is build for a specific use. benchmarking. rar'ing is not practical on LN2. but its nice to think about ;)

You know they're plowing through those boards left and right. I'm taking it's the same white box b1 silicon or another white box  ..... ( If anyone has the means of cherry picking white boxes) Cherry picking the cherry picked. Willy Wonka land.
Imagine how much LN2 they're plowing through. O.o

wow just WOW.... when will the conroe just give up.... this is just amazing. and as ppl have said the chery picked of the chery picked.... BUT DAMN this is another good sign that conroes can oc like NO OTHER!

i remember people saying conroe wouldnt oc to 5ghz till then end of this year...

He had to run 2.7 Vcore to get that result, 2.7 lol thats near twice its recomended voltage
I sort foo want to start seeing max stable OC's We can all sit here looking at LN2 results and going WOW, but id rather be seeing high stable air and water clocks being produced.

well it is called Xtremesystems not mildsystems.

Only the hardcore benchers have the X6800.(mostly) And If you have an X6800 chances are you're hoping the CPU can bang out the next quickest pi. I'll be interested in stable when the lesser retails drop. Man I'm still noobing around ideas about which mobo to get. :)

so many to choose from but atm the boards to look at are gigbyte ds3 if you dont need sli or cf. DFI infinity 975x but priced higher then any infinity has been. 2 not out yet to look at are MSI 975x plat. and abit aw9d-max.

I honestly could care less what the max stable clocks are for a $1,000+ chip :eh?:
I just want to see it hit 5.5Ghz (wich is what I predicted to Ross when we first started seeing conroe results :p )
Now, he just needs to put that thing in a better mobo and put up that 5.5Ghz already!!!!!! :sn:

...That was the memory voltage. The chip was only at 1.73
That is just sick....I convert all my dvd's as soon as I buy them (to kid proof the system)....I could really use 5.5 Ghz of Conroe..taking donations....

Why would someone like coolaler do anything less then phase

Jeeezzz that just ridiculous. I thought 4ghz was going to be amazing for conroe. 5 and a half Ghz is just retarded. Who knows, maybe Intel will end up getting higher clocks with this new technology then they were able to get out of netburst chips.

I seriously doubt it.. the WR for netburst chips is over 7Ghz ;)

He's using LN2 isn't he? LN2 > phase change - or really, less than as in lower tempeeratures :)

not likely IF Intel sticks to their plan to make a whole new generate chip every two years.

Yes that would be > then phase, but didn't I say why would he use less? ;)

Coolaler mostly uses air (tuniq tower120) on the second-rate chips, his trash chips:eek: . He totally skips over water???..lol... he heads to the hardcore cooling side of the spectrum like a MVP should. He's the Babe Ruth of overclocking CD2s

Well actually if you go on percentages the 5.5 on conroe almost equals the 7 on netburst.
2.93 -> 5.5 - 89% OC
3.8 -> 7 - 92% OC
So since NEtburst is dead and buried, and conroe is at the early stages, im thinking we will see much higher overclocks, at least percentage wise.

is it stable enough to fold one WU is the question

point is its stable enough to:
post
boot into windows
start the program up
run the pi
and screen
other than that, the setup is basically highest clocks possible while booting.
i think stable everyday clocks we've seen so far have been up to 4 gigs on water (+4 i'm sure will happen) and around 3.5-3.8 on good air.
Impressive however, and i'm sure as the chipsets and mobo's catch up and the architecture matures a bit, we'll see some higher and higher daily's.
hopefully higher pi runs too. :)

Honestly if your stable on an e6600 at 3.5 - 3.8 on air you should be stoaked.
Most of the 3.2 presscots on air would only go to 3.8-4ghz so 600 - 800 Mhz OC
the e6600 is default at 2.4 so a 3.5 - 3.8 OC is 1.1 - 1.4 Ghz Extra, and these CPU's blow away overclocked presscotts at their default speeds.
4ghz and above at 100% stable folding probably wont happen for a while on AIR and we havn't seen anyone yet burn in these cpu's for say 24hrs././
Im really looking foward to the release date to see people start testing stability of these CPU's cause thats what matters in the long run, not the highest clock possible on LN2 after cherry picking through a 100 cpu's and MB's. :) :)
