Hi, i was looking at getting an MSI-1022 (for pentium \ celeron m's) barebone laptop. It states on the spec it needs a s479 cpu which is fine, however im confused by retailers listing both s478 and s479 cpus, all the same type. I dont mean the older p4 socket, just the mobile non netburst type. Basically if i buy a PPGA FC-PGA2 s478 celeron-m 1.5ghz cpu will it work in the barebone? Also anyone got any experience of the MSI-1022? It appears to have dip switches to select either 400 or 533 bus which would be cool for hopefully 'pin' modding the celeron at the expense of heat + battery life.

the switch probably means it will take dothan cpus. if so, you can get a nice 725 (1.6, 400fsb) and use the switch to o/c it to 2.13.
don't bother with celeron, get the 725 p-m with extra cach. either way, you don't need to pin-mod it for fsb if the board's got the dip-switch :P

don't worry about s478 and s479; if it's mobile series it's the same thing... there's no 479-pin cpus, they are all 478-pin. s479 is just a name to distinguish the mobile socket.
