I tried to do that with my xbox but i realized that a couldnt drill a hole for my life and 150 grit sand paper sucks if u want it to be clear. But it did give it a frosted look.

I modded my xbox jewel with blue LED's under...looks pretty slick....I forget what grit of paper I used...some guides have you using like 3 different grades but it wasn't worth the money to me....it came out clear enough...a tip for anyone use toothpaste on it last...especially if it's bakingsoda tooth paste...it worked real good....and don't try to use bleach to disolve the green stuff...it just reacts with the plastic and makes the jewel foggy looking:beer:

agh cyrix you cheater :D

so i remember a long while back i wanted to make the disc visible while the console was on to watch it spin and the likes. I still wanted to keep the lid intact to enable me to attach the top plate back on as well, so I cut up the lid so that was possible (very very shoddy however...as you may be able to see). Then in a spur of the moment kind of thing, I realized I had another LED laying around, and then i realized i could drill it into the top to make the disc glow (kinda like flamerail's green CD-Rom drive mod). So I went and did just that. Way back when i first took out the name plate and sanded away the black and the nintendo gamecube, i used some crap sandpaper (220grit), and it made it way too frosted. I wanted it to be dead clear with maybe a little brushing kinda marks, but that didn't happen. I tried to clean it up with higher grits of sandpaper, still didn't do anything, so I just left it. Looks cool anyway. So after a day of modding i finally came up with this.

This is how the top LED is connected to the console. I still have a power LED in there too but it's extremely dim, especially when it's running on the same source as the lid LED.
