Sorry about the question but I'm still trying to figure out how to use this OS. I wan't to re-patition, format and load and I can't remember if I created one when I first loaded XP.
Thanks,
Dr.
I think that if you want to load XP from scratch you may want to use one of these:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?releaseid=33290
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?releaseid=33291
The first is for XP home and the second is for XP Pro. These make 6 disk sets!!!
You could also use a boot disk from Win98 or Win ME but then if the hard drive is completely clean you have to do the following. The sticky part about installing from this point is that the setup program that is easy to find on the CD will not work from a DOS prompt. To do the install from the DOS prompt you need to navigate to the i386 dir on your xp cd and run "winnt.exe".

I "think" I've figured it out. Hopefully...

Just go into your bios and have it boot from the cdrom.
Put in the winxp cd and boot up again...it'll go right into setup.
Use the search button it is great!
You can easily create a bootable floppy disk by following these steps:
Place a blank disk in the floppy disk drive.
Click Start, and then click My Computer.
Right–click the floppy disk drive, and then click Format on the shortcut menu.
Click Create an MS–DOS startup disk, and then click Start.
You can boot from the cd rom or use Microsoft Windows XP Bootdisk makers..

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT. DO IT
copy to harddrive and install will be faster.
I would be interested in replys from anyone who has copied all the CD files to the HD and then done an XP install from there.
I have done this with Win95, Win 98 and WinME but I haven't tried it with XP.
