So, I'm looking at 8-port routers, and I was wondering if maybe anyone had any experience with either of these two routers. One is a Linksys brand, and the other is a D-Link.
Linksys:

D-Link:

After reading through quite a few of the reviews, it certainly looks like the D-Link is the way to go. Has anyone had experience with this router, or can anyone offer any suggestions?
Thanks.

That D-Link you linked, is a VPN Router. If all you want is a switch/router, non vpn are cheaper and do the same great job.
I've had decent luck with D-Link as a mid grade product. I have a wireless router right now that is VERY sensative to Microwave and cordless phone interference, but.
Personaly though, I use all Netgear when it comes to switches.

sometimes its much cheaper to get a 4 port router and an 4 5 or 8 port switch.
the dlink is nice, but does it have to be a VPN router?
when shopping for routers, so far, i only trust dlink, linksys, or netgear.
when reading the reviews, keep in mind most people don't know what there doing. ;)
the newer version linksys looks good. mine has been good since the latest firmware: http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=468164

Well, here's the situation, I'm going to be moving very soon into a house with 5 other guys, so we're going to be splitting 5Mb cable internet, 6 ways. I just figured that an 8-port router would be the best way to go. I don't really know a whole lot about networking, so if anyone has better suggestions, then I'm all ears.

well a switch will do the trick when you use it with any router like a 4 port. its like a power strip, it uses one outlet, but provides 6 more.

any switch will do, you will not notice any performance difference from brand to brand on your network.
